This course is designed for Fire Inspectors I & II, Fire Plans Examiner, Building Plans Examiner, Building Inspector, Certified Building Officials and all stakeholders interested in the building industry as it relates to Fires.
The Learning objectives are to relate the historical lessons learned from building fires to the advancements achieved with modern Fire Code Standards and Fire Service Features, in the regards to protect human life and property.

Module 1: Historical Lessons Learned (7 hours)
This module reviews historical fires with the emphasis on the key issues, building construction, fire protection systems, fire /building codes, fire response and lessons learned.
Module 2: Fire Service Features of Buildings and Fire Protection Systems Review (8 hours)
This module reviews the important features of Buildings Fire Protection Systems to increase the safety of emergency responders and building occupants by providing information about how firefighters typically interact with building features and fire protection systems during fires.
By better understanding the needs of the fire service, designers, Fire Plan Examiners, Fire Inspectors and other code officials can work together to streamline fire service emergency operations within the built environment. This module also includes a review of pertinent selected sections of the 2012 International Building code and as referenced to the International Fire Code.
